Lamar PTA Update: Oct 11, 2018

Greetings everyone:

We have a lot going on with the PTA and wanted to share some news with membership before the meeting on Tuesday.

I. Monica Orozco's departure:

Our PTA, Monica Orosco has left Lamar and has resigned as PTA president. note form Monica:

Hi Lamar Families! It has been a pleasure being a part of an amazing PTA. My family and I will cherish the memories and friendship we created at Lamar.

Monica served as president for nearly one year and we are grateful for her service. We wish her best of luck with her new school. A

II. Interm President: Rebecca McMains

After a discussion with our State PTA representative,  Marisa Flores-Mascorro, we learned that an interm president must be appointed from within the executive board. On Wednesday October 10th the executive board got together and unanimously voted on Rebecca McMains as interim president. Rebecca will serve as president until our elections, which will be in May/June. Congrats to Rebecca on her new role!

III. Treasurer

We need to identify a treasurer for the 2018-2019. Currently our executive board is sharing treasurer responsibilities. Carnival news from Chris.

Our Carnival is quickly approaching!! All classes should have received a flyer by now detailing what booth their child's class is hosting. The classes are listed below for quick reference. Some teachers may have asked for the food/drink item or a dollar amount to cover the cost. We ask that all donations please be dropped off at school, the front office or teacher's classroom work great, by next Thursday, Oct 18th. The PTA will shop for the remaining items the following day.
The Carnival is our biggest fundraiser for the Fall and we could not do it without your donations, THANK YOU! We are also very lucky to have Grace Fellowship Church volunteer to run the game booths for us so that families may spend time having fun at the Carnival!
